About Lydia

My entire childhood and education was carried out in France. In high school, I was part of the International British Section in the Lycée International Montebello in Lille, where I discovered a passion for English. I combined my interested in English and children, and moved to London to become an au pair. After having had a fantastic experience as an au pair, getting to know more about childcare and the British culture, I decided to stay in the UK indefinitely and work as a Nanny. In the meantime, I was also in the process of obtaining a BA in Cultural Studies with the University of Lille, where I learned about Linguistics, Grammar and Translation in both English and French.
Having now graduated, I am focusing on tutoring children in French as I feel that, through my work experience and my education background, I have acquired the specific skills to do so.

About the lesson

Having had over 4 years of experience working with children of all ages, I feel I have amassed the skills necessary to teach them French. Whether they be intermediate learners or complete beginners, I believe that enforcing repetition through engaging activities and the use of media like music and videos is the key to making children learn a second language.

As an experienced nanny and a native french speaker, I believe I have the skills and patience to guide a child through the process of learning/practicing French in a fun, exciting and entertaining way.

As an aspiring teacher, I am aware that every child has a different learning method and so for that reason, I will make sure that the classes are tailored to each. That is why I strongly believe in honouring the Montessori values and principles.
