About Mae

I am uniquely patient and understanding, qualities with I believe make me not only a gentle teacher but also an effective one. My own experiences of studying 6 different languages in school and at university have made me sensitive to the challenges of language learning. At first, French did not come naturally to me, so I know how to explain things simply, something that more experienced teachers often forget

Additionally, I could ramble on about the nuances of French linguistics forever, so please ask me as many questions as you can come up with! They are not only never silly but are always of pertinent interest to me!

Fun fact: 29% of English vocabulary comes from French. If you have ever offered anyone "advice", or some "honesty", you are already speaking French. I look forward to helping you realise what you already know.

About the lesson

I love the patterns and regularities of French and hope that by pointing these out, something that schools often neglect to do, I can help to make language learning easier. It wasn't until I noticed such structures, two years into learning French, that everything started to click, and so I hope to highlight these early on to ensure new French students hit the ground running.

I am also currently studying Arabic, and have previously studied Russian, Ancient Greek and Latin, so I am all too familiar with the frustrations of learning a new language; I hope that my students never feel embarrassed to make mistakes as I can ensure I have made the same ones many times before!

I have experience in tutoring Latin at beginners' level, and currently tutor more advanced English to non-native speakers. I am happy to teach French up to and including A levels.
