I was Lexie's student in Japanese from 2024-2025, and she was such a kind, encouraging, and helpful sensei! I lived in Japan for 2 and a half years through the JET Programme and passed the N3 level of the JLPT, but had to return home due to Covid. Since I came back to the states, I was feeling discouraged because I was disconnected from immersion and learning opportunities, however Lexie revitalized my excitement for learning through her lessons! From the very beginning she supported me in my goal of passing N2, which I had pretty much given up on. Not only that, but she also took time to design custom lessons, and focused the conversation on topics that made it easy to work on more challenging grammar structures. It was also fun chatting with her, because we have a lot in common but there's also a lot of new things I've learned from her perspective. I really appreciate her for putting the fire back in me for learning Japanese!

I've been taking Japanese classes with Lexie for a few months now, and would certainly recommend her classes. We do informal conversational practice to warm up, and then do structured lessons with written and audio questions. She's always able to accommodate my pace in class and with homework. She thoroughly answers any questions with advanced knowledge of both the language itself, but also social context and cultural understanding. I would highly recommend her classes.

I highly recommend Lexie as a trusted and proficient teacher. I am so thankful for Lexie's teaching style which has allowed me to feel safe to take chances in pronunciation and writing without fear of judgement. After a lesson I find myself practicing between classes and sharing what I've learned with family and friends.
