About Genevieve

I am a native French speaker who trained as a postgraduate linguist researcher at UCL (University College London, UK) and as a hatha yoga teacher at the Sadhguru Gurukkulam School of Yoga (Isha Yoga Center, India). I am an enthusiastic language learner myself, and am fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. I am also familiar with German, Polish, Russian and Hindi, but still lack conversational practice to become fluent in these languages. In the past 10 years, I have been offering online French tutoring to children and adults of all ages, with an emphasis on achieving accurate French pronunciation and understanding different aspects of the French culture. In 2021, I also volunteered to teach two full semesters online to middle school children in India, who were at home during the pandemic's lockdown period. This was a challenging, but also rewarding experience, and I have learned much about how to engage children during online sessions.

About the lesson

Bonjour, nice to meet you! I believe the best way to learn a language is to become an active learner and to find an enthusiastic teacher who understands you as a person, and adapts the lessons to your unique learning style and objectives. When it comes to language learning, there are many methods we can make use of, but everyone is different and responds differently to these. This is why no two lessons are alike across my students! I typically cover vocabulary and grammar based on conversation themes which are relevant to you, and include some spoken and written practice as well. I can also be your pronunciation coach to help you reach a native-sounding accent in French, which in turn can help you gain confidence to practice the language in real life. And if you are interested, I can also share some tips from yoga and meditation to improve your memory and attention levels, as well as your overall well-being. Whether you wish to gain proficiency in French, or to prepare for a French exam, or anything else, I would be glad to help you with that!
