About ZIBEI

I was born in China and lived there for 22 years before moving to London to complete my MA in Interaction Design at the University of the Arts London (LCC). I am a native Chinese speaker and have a strong understanding of both Chinese language and culture in real, everyday contexts.

I am friendly, patient, and easy to communicate with. I aim to create a relaxed and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable speaking, making mistakes, and improving step by step. I believe language learning works best when it feels natural and practical, rather than stressful or overly formal.

My lessons are flexible depending on your goals, whether you want to improve conversational Chinese, pronunciation, reading, or general fluency. I focus on helping students use real, natural expressions that native speakers actually use in daily life.

I also bring a sense of humour into my teaching style, so lessons are engaging and enjoyable while still structured and productive.

I look forward to helping you improve your Chinese in a way that is clear, effective, and confidence-building.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is flexible, supportive, and focused on real communication. As a native Chinese speaker, I aim to help students build confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in a way that feels practical and engaging rather than overly academic.

I usually start by understanding the student’s level, goals, and learning style. From there, I tailor each lesson so it feels relevant and manageable. I often use everyday conversations, simple dialogues, and real-life scenarios to help students absorb the language naturally. For more advanced learners, I focus on fluency, pronunciation refinement, and structured discussion, as well as reading and writing practice.

A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although this can be adjusted depending on the student’s needs and attention span.

I am a native Chinese speaker currently studying an MA at the University of the Arts London, and I have experience working in international environments, which helps me explain language in a clear and patient way. I am confident working with beginners who are completely new to Mandarin, as well as intermediate learners who want to improve fluency or prepare for exams such as HSK.

My lessons are suitable for children, students, or adults of any age who are interested in learning Mandarin for study, travel, work, or personal interest.
