About Evon
I am a non-native Japanese speaker from Malaysia, a country where multilingualism is the norm. Growing up trilingual gave me a strong foundation in language learning, but Japanese has always been my true passion. I began watching anime at six years old, and by the age of twelve, I was already speaking Japanese — even before I became fluent in English. For me, Japanese has always felt like my second language. I currently speak six languages: Bahasa Melayu, English, Mandarin, Japanese, Cantonese, and Korean. I taught myself how to read and write Japanese during high school and later completed a 3-month intensive course to prepare for the JLPT exams. I’ve successfully passed both N2 and N1 with excellent results and am currently studying independently for the EJU exam. While revising my study materials, I realized that teaching others would not only support their learning but also strengthen my own understanding. That’s what inspired me to apply — to share my knowledge, my methods, and my lifelong love for the Japanese language.

In my classes, we explore fun and quirky parts of Japanese culture — the kind of stuff that makes you laugh and learn at the same time. I also support my students by speaking with them in Japanese, helping them improve their grammar, pronunciation, and confidence along the way.
My lessons cover all levels, from beginner to advanced. I even teach my sister beginner Japanese in my free time, so I’m well-equipped to guide anyone on their language journey.
