About Kriselle

Kia ora. I’m Kriselle, a classically trained pianist with a Grade 8 certification from the Trinity College of Music and over 3 years of teaching experience. While my foundation is in classical piano, my love for music led me to explore and self-learn pop, jazz, and blues styles. That journey has helped me understand how to break down complex musical ideas into fun, practical steps - something I bring into every lesson.

I work full-time in a corporate government role, which means I’ve undergone a thorough background and reference check. But my real passion lies in music and teaching.

Over the years, my personality assessments consistently show that teaching and sharing knowledge is my strongest suit - and I find true joy in helping students of all ages discover their musical voice.

About the lesson

"Where words fail, music speaks." – Hans Christian Andersen

My lessons are tailored to each student’s goals and learning style. I teach a variety of styles:

Classical Piano – All levels, with a strong emphasis on technique and musical expression

Pop Piano – For students who want to play their favourite songs, from beginner to advanced

Jazz & Blues Piano - Beginner-friendly sessions focusing on chord progressions, rhythm and improvisation.

My teaching approach is rooted in open communication, mutual respect, and a supportive learning environment. I believe that every student learns best when they feel heard, encouraged and comfortable asking questions without hesitation, and thereby build confidence at their own pace. By working collaboratively and respecting each student’s unique journey, I aim to make each lesson both enriching and enjoyable.

I offer 30, 45 and 60-minute piano lessons. In general, I prefer 45min lessons because they strike the perfect balance — long enough to learn and revise without feeling rushed, but not so long that it becomes overwhelming. That said, in certain cases, 30-minute lessons work better for very young beginners or those with time constraints, and 60-minute lessons work best for advanced students or students who have a longer attention span.

I believe that music should be both structured and soulful - it’s about learning the rules and knowing when to break them.
