About Adar

Hi, I'm Adar! I started playing the flute at just six years old, and it's been a huge part of my life ever since. I'm a graduate of Junior Guildhall, one of the UK's leading conservatoire training programmes for young musicians, where I served as Principal Flute of the Junior Guildhall Symphony Orchestra. I hold an ABRSM Diploma on the flute, as well as Grade 8 Music Theory, and I teach both flute and music theory. Alongside this, I've won major concerto competitions and performed as a soloist, which has taught me just as much about confidence and stage presence as it has about technique.

What I love most about teaching is helping other people find that same connection with music — whether that's through the excitement of nailing a tricky passage or just enjoying playing for its own sake. I'm patient and encouraging, and I care more about a student genuinely progressing than rushing through a syllabus.

Outside of music, I study Mathematics at the University of Bristol — which might seem unrelated, but both subjects have taught me the same lesson: real progress comes from consistent, careful practice, not shortcuts.

About the lesson

My approach to flute teaching balances strong technical foundations with genuine musicality — I don't believe good playing has to feel mechanical. Lessons typically focus on tone production, breathing technique, and fingering fluency early on, then build towards musicality, phrasing, and expression as students progress. I tailor my teaching style to each student: some want structured, exam-focused preparation, while others simply want to enjoy playing and improve at their own pace — I adapt to whichever fits.

A typical lesson runs 30–60 minutes, depending on the student's age, level, and goals. Younger or beginner students often benefit from shorter, more focused sessions, while more advanced players preparing for exams or performances may prefer longer lessons to work through repertoire in depth.

In terms of experience, I'm a graduate of Junior Guildhall, one of the UK's leading conservatoire training programmes for young musicians. I've won major concerto competitions and have performed as a soloist, which gives me firsthand insight into what it takes to play at a high level — not just technically, but with real confidence and stage presence.

My lessons are suitable for all ages and levels, from complete beginners picking up the flute for the first time, to intermediate and advanced players working towards grades, exams, or performance goals.
