About Jennica

I'm Jennica Mae Abrams, a Los Angeles-based photographer, director, and visual artist with over a decade of professional experience across music, fashion, entertainment, and commercial photography. I studied photography at Webster University Geneva in Switzerland — including a large format film study abroad program in Tuscany — and trained under a commercial and documentary photographer in Geneva before building my career in LA.
My work has taken me around the world, touring with major artists, shooting for Sony Music, Warner Brothers, and Sumerian Records, and covering festivals like Coachella, EDC, and Warped Tour. My photography has been published in Vanity Fair, and I've worked with brands ranging from Fortune-level tech companies to independent musicians just starting out.
I teach because I genuinely love the craft and believe that great photography is as much about how you see as it is about technical skill. I've learned from experience on the road, on set, and in the darkroom — and that's exactly what I bring to every lesson.

About the lesson

My lessons are built around how photography actually works in the real world — not just technical rules, but creative instincts, workflow, and the kind of eye that gets your work noticed. Whether you're a complete beginner or someone looking to take their skills to a professional level, sessions are fully personalized to where you are and where you want to go.
We can cover anything from the fundamentals of light, composition, and camera settings, to shooting on film (35mm, medium format, or large format), darkroom printing, portrait and wedding photography, fashion and editorial work, or post-production editing in Lightroom and Photoshop. I also teach video, color grading, and creative direction for those looking to expand beyond stills.
I've spent over a decade shooting for major labels, touring artists, global brands, and editorial publications — and I bring all of that into how I teach. You won't just learn how to take a photo. You'll learn how to think like a photographer.
