About Mateus
With 10 years of experience as a DJ and 5 years as a music producer, Mateus Almeida launched the SZAL project in 2022, blending Brazilian and African rhythms—especially funk—into his open-format sets. Since moving to London, he has become the resident DJ at Baile Trama, one of the city’s largest funk parties, and has performed in cities like Berlin, Paris, and Dublin.
Mateus stands out for his unique incorporation of live MPC, which creates a fresh experience at every show and highlights his exceptional live performance skills. His background as a professional dancer influences his style, allowing him to mix genres while engaging the audience and motivating them to dance along.

About Me:
Hi, I’m Mateus, also known as SZAL. I’m 27 years old and have been a DJ for 10 years and a music producer for 5. I grew up in Brazil, famous for its incredible parties, and now I live in London, touring Europe every month to perform.
About the Course:
This course covers everything from the basics of mixing to advanced techniques like transitions, effects, loops, and tricks. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of music and learn how to apply that knowledge to your DJing. Each lesson lasts between 60 to 90 minutes, and we will focus on both music theory and hands-on DJ practice. Once you reach the basic and intermediate levels, we’ll work on building a solid set, creating great playlists, and preparing for live performances.
About You:
There are no restrictions on who can become a DJ—your age, music preferences, aspirations, and background don’t matter. DJing is for everyone!
