About Mateo
I am a fully bilingual (English and Spanish) PhD student in pure mathematics at the University of Waterloo. I have ample experience teaching mathematics at all levels, all the way from middle school math up to higher level university mathematics. I have 3 years of TA experience in mathematics, as well as more than 5 years of personalized private tutoring experience with both middle school, high school and university level students.

I prefer tutoring using the Socratic method. I have always found that it is best to guide students towards the right answers by following their thread of thought and threading that thread asking the right questions, so that the student can find the answer by themselves. I also like to use a lot of exercises and examples, as I have found students learn best when presented with a problem and realizing when and where is the theory needed, rather than just emphasizing the theory in abstract.
