About Alex
I studied violin performance at music conservatoire and found that the bit I enjoyed the most was teaching, which I started doing at the age of 16. I later retrained as a primary school teacher which I find extremely rewarding.
I love to break down ideas into small manageable chunks so that students can not only understand the question, but also enjoy the process of learning too.

Enhanced DBS and Qualified Teacher Status. I’m a fully qualified primary school teacher specialising in creating engaging lessons for primary age children who have learning difficulties. I have 10+ years teaching and tutoring experience and can adapt lessons to support and challenge your child to achieve their full potential. I have a thorough knowledge of the national curriculum and what is expected at each stage of primary school. I have lots of experience working with children who have neurodiversity such as ADHD and Autism. I personalise learning to suit the needs of the students and keep them engaged with tricky topics. I can also provide personalised sessions for children aiming to work above and beyond the work they are doing in the classroom. I prepare learners for Reading, Spelling & Grammar, Arithmetic and Maths reasoning Year 6 or Year 2 SATS. I’m also trained in Phonics and have experience teaching across subjects in KS1 and KS2. I am offering: ------ Key Stage 2 (Year 6) Reading, Spelling and Grammar, Arithmetic & Maths SATS preparation ---- Key Stage 1 (Year 2) Reading, Spelling and Grammar, Arithmetic & Maths SATs preparation ---- Sessions include homework (unless agreed otherwise), past paper questions and unique guidance and support for the parents. A typical lesson structure would be: - Warm up activity - Discuss any issues with learning - Review homework - I teach a new skill / approach a new type of question - We try out the skill together - Student practises the skill - We review the lesson and I explain the homework - Finish with a warm down / reward activity
