About Ricky

I’m an engineer, 3D printing specialist and creative technology tutor with hands on experience in 3D modelling, 3D printing, laser cutting and workshop tools across university, engineering and personal project environments.

I enjoy helping students turn ideas into real objects through fun, practical and beginner friendly lessons. My teaching style is patient, clear and encouraging, with a focus on building confidence through small achievable projects.

I have experience teaching students of different ages, from young kids learning their first design tools to adults exploring 3D printing as a new hobby. I also have a background in mechanical engineering, project work, CAD design and 3D printing, which allows me to explain both the creative and technical sides in a simple way.

My goal is to help students become more curious, confident and capable with design, technology and problem solving.

About the lesson

These lessons are designed for kids, teens, young adults and beginner hobbyists who want to learn 3D modelling and 3D printing in a fun, practical and easy to understand way.

Students can learn how to create simple 3D models, prepare files for printing, use beginner friendly design tools such as Tinkercad, understand basic CAD concepts, use slicing software, choose suitable materials and improve print quality.

For younger students, lessons are kept visual, creative and engaging. Projects may include name tags, toys, mini buildings, simple mechanisms, bike inspired designs, characters, desk accessories or objects they can later 3D print.

For teens and adults, lessons can be tailored around personal goals, such as learning CAD basics, preparing files for 3D printing, improving print settings, troubleshooting failed prints or starting a home 3D printing hobby.

Each lesson is step by step and project based. Students are encouraged to experiment, ask questions and improve their designs as they learn.

Whether you are completely new or already experimenting at home, I will guide you through the full process from idea, to model, to finished print.

Chris was very friendly when he approached me for 3D modelling lesson for his 7 year old son, John. We were able to organise our first online lesson and John had a very enjoyable and educational lesson. John is a bright child with great enthusiasm, I look forward to many more lessons together!
