About Isabel

Throughout my time at school I dedicated a reasonable portion of my time towards studying. I taught myself to study efficiently by focusing on active learning and my lessons will make sure you are learning actively too (not just reading off the board and writing it down!).
By the end of Y11 I got all A*/A** ( 8s and 9s) with a 9 in English literature. Following this, I studied English Literature, History and Biology at A Level so two thirds of my study had to focus on essay writing. Because of this I gained a strong ability to plan and structure essays in short spaces of time whilst maintaining a solid argument. By the end of Y13 (which took place in the chaos of 2020) , I left school with 3 A*s at A Level , grades determined by my consistent hard work.

About the lesson

Having worked 2 part-time jobs throughout my Gap year, I know the importance of time management and am going to utilise this in teaching to get the most out of our lessons. I know that as a student I appreciated clear, concise teaching and I'm willing to offer this at a low price.
Planning is the basis of any essay, especially in exams and time-limited conditions. Because of this I'd structure my lessons around planning the foundation of a solid argument that can be driven throughout your essay whilst acknowledging any counter-arguments and debating them within your writing. The key aim is to end with a judgement that has already been reinforced with evidence numerous times in the essay.
If planning isn't a priority for your lesson we can also base the lessons around key aspects of the English literature course; at GCSE and A Levels it is important to try and focus on quality of argument, language, form, structure, context, connections across literary texts and different interpretations of certain texts. I can provide assistance in analysing texts and helping to understand them.
Please note: At A Level I studied English Literature with AQA B which included Aspects of Tragedy (John Keats poetry, King Lear, Death of a Salesman) and Political and Social protest writing ( William Blake poetry, The Handmaid's Tale, Kite Runner) as well as coursework.
