About Jo

Hi! I’m currently undertaking Initial Teacher Training in Computer Science, having previously graduated in Business Management. I’m interested in making Computer Science accessible and engaging for students, helping them develop a solid understanding of the subject.

Alongside my teacher training, I’ve studied CompTIA Network+ and PenTest+ material, expanding my knowledge of computer networking and cybersecurity. I bring a patient, organised and practical approach to learning, and aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, working through challenges and developing their skills at their own pace.

About the lesson

Are you struggling to turn your Computer Science knowledge into marks in your GCSE exams? I can help you understand the subject, tackle exam questions with confidence, and develop the techniques needed to give precise, well-structured answers.

I’m a Business Management graduate currently undertaking Initial Teacher Training in Computer Science, with a particular interest in helping students build their understanding of the subject and prepare effectively for their GCSE examinations.

My approach goes beyond simply explaining the content. I focus on helping students understand what exam questions are asking, how to structure their answers, and how to avoid common mistakes that can cost valuable marks.

What I can help with

OCR GCSE Computer Science theory: Breaking down key concepts into clear, manageable explanations.
Programming and algorithms: Developing understanding of Python, variables, selection, iteration, inputs, outputs and logical reasoning.

Exam technique: Understanding command words, interpreting questions and tailoring answers to the marks available.

Past-paper practice: Working through questions, reviewing answers against mark schemes and identifying areas for improvement.

Learning from mistakes: Understanding not just what an answer got wrong, but how to improve it next time.

Exam confidence: Helping students approach unfamiliar questions methodically rather than feeling overwhelmed.

My teaching approach:

I believe students benefit from understanding why an answer earns marks, rather than simply memorising a model answer.

In our sessions, we’ll work through exam style questions together, identify gaps in understanding, practise constructing stronger answers and build strategies that students can apply independently.

Whether you need support with Computer Science theory, programming concepts or exam preparation, sessions will be adapted to your current level and learning goals.

My aim is simple: to help you develop your understanding, improve your exam technique and approach your GCSE Computer Science exams with greater confidence.
