About Lewis

Hello, my name is Lewis and I am looking to work as a tutor. This is becuase I have always enjoyed meeting and getting to know people, helping people and teaching. I am 29, live in London and my main job is working for the NHS, my most recent role has been as a project manager for learning disabilities and autism. I have worked for the NHS for over 10 years now, starting when I was 17 and still completing my A levels.

During my A levels was also when I first started tutoring students to help them with their GCSEs, I have tutored students since that time, and received tutoring myself. During my education, academic subjects like maths and science came very easily to me, I took my maths GCSE early and completed two additional qualifications in statistics and additional maths while still in high school. I went on to complete a degree in biomedical science, which is a very complex and wide-ranging field of science.

As a person, I am very friendly, personable and honest. I am a good tutor becuase I am patient, encouraging and can speak very clearly so people can understand, however complex the subject. I treat all my students like adults and trust in their capacity to take responsibility for their future. Everyone deserves the opportunity to perform at their highest potential during their education. I will support any student to do so.

About the lesson

I prepare my sessions with the students to focus on the areas of the subject they struggle with the most, providing step-by-step guidance to support comprehension at their pace. I am very conversational and patient, not trying to spoon feed information but rather asking questions so the subjects we are revising become easier to remember. This way, students can develop their overall skills in a subject and become quicker and more adept at finding answers independently when they need them. For each session I will not only prepare content for subject revision but, once the student is ready to move on, link the subject back into the type of exam questions the topic tends to be covered in, with prepared questions for us to go through together and then for the student to tackle. Following the session I will suggest further content for the student to practice so they can repeat the learning and be ready come exam time. My students thus far have been preparing for GCSEs, therefore in years 10-11 or age 14-16. I can accommodate sessions of 1-2 hours.
