About Kendal
Hello! My name is Kendal Henderson, and I am an Atlanta-native who is currently studying Public Relations and Communications at American University in Washington, D.C. I love language and writing, and one of my greatest prides is my Duolingo streak. I have been speaking German for about 5 years now, and have traveled to Germany twice in the past two years. I am near-fluent, and have a great passion for learning languages and communicating with others. I speak multiple languages, including German, like Spanish. I believe that learning another language is crucial to participating in the world we live in. In addition to the fun of it!

My approach to teaching or helping with the German language is to start off by matching the student with their level. From there, if the student has specific work or subject they would like help on, I can assist with that. However, if the student is simply interested in furthering their education, a typical lesson plan would consist of one listening practice, one reading practice, and one writing practice. Additionally, I would include one grammar rule to focus on per lesson, this ensures the student's understanding of grammar. This would just be the basic definition followed by a page of practice. One thing that is unique about my teaching methods is that I have found it is very helpful to learn a language in a context of things you enjoy. So, during our first lesson, I will provide a brief questionnaire for the student to fill out, that way I can include vocabulary words that relate to the student's personal interest. I will also provide homework that is relevant to the student's course level, as well as light assessments to better understand their learning. My teaching applies to anyone of any German level, whether it's basic to them or completely new.
