About Radu

Starting piano at 5 years old, I quickly realised a career in music would be a lifelong ambition. 15 years down the line and upon completing all my Classical Grades (1-8) + achieving Diploma level, I feel I am now ready to fly the flag for the next curious mind.

Over the past few years in education, my focus has been on broadening my knowledge in as many areas of the music industry alongside the performance aspect. I have intensely studied music production, music business, and music performance at college and university level, achieving First Class Honours (BA) at Leeds Conservatoire in 2019. It is due to this experience I feel that I can bring more value to the average piano lesson and can easily cater to anyone looking to seriously start a career in music. Whatever your involvement is as of now, we can explore the different avenues together.

Living in London for 9 years prior to moving up north, I gained a scholarship at CYM in central London studying classical piano under Katherine Riley and jazz under the renowned Bruno Heinen. I have since played for various artists, functions, festivals, and studio sessions up and down the country!

About the lesson

I believe every student will innately have different needs/learning styles when starting out in piano or generally progressing further in music. As a child, studying intense classical music wasn’t always as fun or exciting as playing pop songs was in my spare time, so my teaching style is not delivered with a one size fits all approach. Although I believe music theory knowledge and reading notation is important, catering for ear development whilst making lessons enjoyable/diverse is arguably more important to the beginner student.

In our free lesson, we will discuss aims, overall goals, and share musical influences to tailor the perfect system just for you. Whether you are looking for a solid foundation in classical piano or are simply wanting to be the star at your next dinner party, I can cater to any level with an easy-to-understand curriculum and flexible pricing/timing. I cater to all ages, though I am especially experienced in working with children and young people. I am currently available for home visits in the Leeds area and online zoom lessons if you wish! I adhere to strict hygiene standards and will adapt my teaching style for socially distant learning. In certain circumstances, lessons could take place at my studio with a dual keyboard/piano setup if needed.
