About Davide

Hello! I am a Grade 12 student, fluent in Italian, French, and English. I have currently completed all 4 years of French learning available at my school. Moreover, my average for all those for years was always 93% or more, with my highest ever average at a 97%. I have 7+ years of learning, and though I may be more experienced than others, I am constantly learning more and more about this beautiful language. Last year, I was fortunate enough to gain some tutoring experience, both with my friends and a student in grade 9. For example, in the first semester of French, my friend had a 72%, though with my help and some confidence boost, he was able to raise it to an 82%. Additionally, another friend, who usually struggles with French, was able to finish in the low 90s, which was unprecedented for her. Regarding the grade 9 student, he was failing and had below 50%, however working together we were able to raise it to a 70%. While French is only mandatory in the first grade, it is still important to pass your classes, and I am glad I was able to help a student achieve this.

About the lesson

First of all, I'm very sociable, I find it easy to work with anybody. My levels range from grade 5-12, but I can teach lower grades if necessary. Before starting to tutor, I always like to try and connect with who I am working with. Then, I ask about their strengths and weaknesses, as this will help me figure out what I should prioritize in the lessons. I also ask what the student is currently learning in school, as I will try to mix it with their weaknesses and catch two birds with one stone. When I tutor, I usually begin with a small lesson, which is then followed by practice. Hopefully they're easy enough to be completed, but hard enough to provide some kind of a challenge. Nevertheless, if the student does not understand an exercise, I will try to jog their memory, until they can remember. However, if they can really not remember, I will explain them to concept again, and will do another set of practice so that they can fully grasp the concept. Finally, though teaching is important, I do not believe tutoring is not just about teaching students, but being a mentor for the students, being able to give them confidence, help them ,both emotionally and psychologically.
