About Hussein
I am a recent A-level graduate and Imperial College London Medicine offer holder, having achieved four A* grades in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry and Arabic, alongside an A in Biology. At GCSE, I achieved grade 9s in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, as well as several other subjects.
I have always enjoyed understanding how and why things work, particularly in Mathematics and Chemistry, and I found that one of the most rewarding parts of studying these subjects was being able to explain difficult concepts to others. This is what motivated me to start tutoring: I want to help students develop the same confidence and understanding that allowed me to succeed in my own studies.
My approach is centred around understanding rather than memorisation. I adapt lessons to each student's individual needs, whether that means building confidence with the fundamentals, working through challenging topics or developing exam technique. I aim to make lessons engaging and supportive while ensuring that students make clear progress towards their goals.
Having recently completed my own A-levels, I understand the challenges students face and the importance of effective revision, exam technique and learning how to approach unfamiliar questions. I would be delighted to help students studying Mathematics, Further Mathematics or Chemistry at GCSE or A-level.

My teaching approach is centred around understanding, active problem-solving and building confidence. Rather than simply showing students how to reach an answer, I focus on helping them understand the underlying principles so that they can apply their knowledge independently to unfamiliar questions.
Every lesson is tailored to the student's individual needs and current level. We may focus on strengthening foundations, tackling difficult topics, developing exam technique or preparing for upcoming assessments. I also encourage students to explain their thinking, as this allows me to identify gaps in understanding and address them directly.
A typical lesson will begin with a brief review of previous work and any areas the student has found challenging. We will then introduce or revisit the key concepts, followed by worked examples and guided practice. As the lesson progresses, I gradually give the student more independence, finishing with exam-style questions to test their understanding and application. Where appropriate, I will also set targeted practice for the student to complete between lessons.
For Mathematics and Further Mathematics, I place particular emphasis on developing logical problem-solving skills and recognising the methods required for different types of questions. For Chemistry, I focus on understanding the concepts behind reactions and processes rather than relying solely on memorisation, while also developing the ability to apply knowledge accurately in exam questions.
Most importantly, I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Mistakes are an important part of learning, and I aim to create a supportive environment where students can identify what they need to improve and leave each lesson feeling more confident than when they arrived.
