About Aaliyah
My name is Aaliyah, and I am a teacher with ADHD! Having ADHD over the years has taught me the importance of being flexible in the classroom to cater to students of all abilities. My enthusiasm shines through in my humour, intelligence, talent for storytelling, and ability to genuinely connect with others.
My practical experience makes me an excellent teaching candidate. I graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2019 with a BA in Communications and Media, learning how to analyse the subtext language lends across modern communication channels and the significance of creativity and flexibility across different contexts. I have recently completed a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics, further educating myself on the power of language and communications. I understand the importance of grammar and syntactic structures alongside active listening in communicating complex ideas. My Master's dissertation explored the nuances of English in its written and spoken forms when teaching language to students with ADHD and received a distinction, with my tutor offering to collaborate to submit the thesis to an academic linguistic journal.
Being a School of the Arts student over the years has allowed me to develop skills in writing, research, creativity and communication. I know how important it is to be cognitively stimulated in the classroom, so no two lessons will ever be the same!
