About Tatyana
I'm a professional musician, harpist and pianist working in the music industry at large for over a decade. I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2017 where I studied performance and production on a full scholarship. For the last few years, I have been a signed artist releasing music on indie label Sinderlyn, touring internationally and working as a session harpist for renowned artists (Neneh Cherry, Chet Faker etc). I have been playing harp, piano and singing for over 15 years in a variety of styles. I am classically trained, but have studied jazz, Celtic and other contemporary styles of music.

My approach to tutoring focuses on understanding individual learning needs, keeping lessons engaging, and breaking down complex ideas into simple, clear steps. My aim is to make music a source of joy and applicable to your goals with learning an instrument. Lessons are split into two sections - developing technique and a wider knowledge of music theory, alongside developing a repertoire of music that you love. I place an emphasis on improvisation, a solid foundation of understanding chords/theory, and ultimately delivering performances of the music that makes your heart sing. My methods include both learning by ear, suited to the harp with its aural tradition, and from notated music, leading to grade exams. My speciality is a hybrid approach; learning how to sing and play, but am happy to focus on individual instrument lessons too. The goal is to build confidence and develop good habits, helping students master the material at their own pace.

Tatyana is an amazing harp teacher. When I wanted to learn harp I had a difficult time finding one who could do all genres until I found Tatyana. I had never even touched a harp before and she was incredibly patient with me, and let me have fun choosing some songs I wanted to learn. With Tatyana as my teacher I never gave up because it never felt like a chore. Highly recommend!!!
