About Mia
I have a strong interest in mathematics, statistics, and how analytical thinking can be applied to solve real-world problems. Through my academic and professional experience, I have developed an appreciation for the importance of clear explanations, logical reasoning, and making complex concepts easier to understand. I want to teach because I enjoy sharing knowledge and helping others discover that subjects such as maths and statistics can be approachable, meaningful, and even enjoyable. I understand that every student learns differently, and I believe a supportive and patient learning environment can make a significant difference to their confidence and progress. As a tutor, I hope to help students not only improve their knowledge and achieve their goals, but also develop a lasting confidence in their own abilities.

My approach to private tutoring in maths and statistics is centred on building understanding, confidence, and independent problem-solving skills. I believe everyone can learn these subjects with the right guidance, patience, and teaching approach. Rather than simply teaching formulae or memorisation techniques, I focus on explaining the underlying concepts in a clear, logical, and accessible way, using practical examples to connect theory with real-world applications. I tailor each lesson to the student’s existing knowledge, learning pace, and individual goals, whether they are starting from scratch, preparing for exams, or developing skills for academic or professional purposes. I encourage students to ask questions, learn from mistakes, and develop their own strategies for tackling unfamiliar problems. My ultimate aim is not only to help students achieve their immediate learning goals, but also to equip them with the confidence and skills to approach maths and statistics independently.
