# About Me
Hello, I’m Yuki.
I was born and raised in Nanjing, China, and moved to Canada during high school. I graduated from McGill University and am currently continuing my studies in education and language learning at Queen’s University, alongside a TESOL certificate.
I have always been interested in languages and education. As a native Chinese speaker who learned English as a teenager and French as an adult, I understand what it feels like to learn a language from a different linguistic and cultural background. I have also studied Korean and learned some Japanese independently, which has given me an even greater appreciation for the challenges of language learning.
I enjoy teaching because I like seeing students gradually become more confident and independent. For me, teaching is not simply about explaining grammar or correcting mistakes. It is about helping students understand why something works, giving them opportunities to practice, and creating an environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
I also have hands-on experience working with children as a Teacher Assistant at an international school in China, where English was the working language. This experience, together with my studies in education and language learning, has helped me develop a patient and practical approach to teaching.
I hope my lessons can be a place where you feel comfortable learning at your own pace, while making steady progress toward your personal goals.

Hello, I’m Yuki.
I teach Mandarin Chinese, English, French, and Mathematics up to Year 10.
Mandarin Chinese: I am a native Mandarin speaker from Nanjing, China. I teach Chinese systematically, covering pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, conversation, and HSK preparation. Lessons can be adapted for beginners or learners who want to improve their existing Chinese.
English: I focus on everyday English, conversation, and IELTS preparation. I achieved an overall IELTS score of 7.5 on my first attempt. Having lived in Canada and currently living in Australia, I can also help you practise practical English for university, work, renting, shopping, appointments, and social situations. I can explain difficult points in Chinese when helpful.
French: I focus on TEF/TCF preparation, particularly for Chinese- and English-speaking learners preparing for Canadian or Quebec immigration. I learned French as an adult and lived in French-speaking Montreal during university, so I understand the challenges of preparing for a required language score. I can use Chinese or English to make difficult French concepts easier to understand.
Mathematics: I teach Mathematics up to Year 10, including homework support, revision, exam preparation, and difficult topics. I explain concepts step by step and focus on understanding the reasoning rather than simply memorising formulas.
My lessons are systematic, practical, and tailored to each student. I use explanations, guided practice, conversation, corrections, and real-life examples. I also use shared notes and can provide homework or additional materials for practice between lessons.
I have a background in education and language learning, a TESOL certificate, and hands-on experience as a Teacher Assistant at an international school in China, as well as experience working with children.
I aim to create a comfortable learning environment where students can ask questions, make mistakes, and gradually build confidence.
