About Matthew
Matthew Marano, tenor, graduated from McGill University in 2020. He has studied and performed art songs, operas, oratorios, and choral pieces from the Baroque to the Romantic period. He has also sung at Pollack Hall with Opera McGill with the McGill Symphony Orchestra. Since the Summer of 2020, he has portrayed several lead roles with New York Opera Conservatory, including Don Ottavio from Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Edgardo from Donizetti’s Lucia De Lammermoor, Nadir from Bizet’s Pearl Fishers, Luigi from Puccini’s il tabarro and Pollione from Bellini’s Norma. In April of 2021, he sang the role of Gaston in La Traviata with Taconic Opera and had recently finished performing Brétigny in Manon’s Massenet this fall. He most recently performed the role of Cavaradossi from Puccini’s Tosca as well as Nemorino from Donizetti’s Elixer of love with New York Opera Conservatory in August of 2023.

I love to see an inspired student. Everyone sees music, and hears music differently. I look to understand how you look at music and give you the advice that I have learned through the years of being a performer. I have performed broadway musicals in the past and I am currently on my way to being an opera singer.
We will work on your voice in technical ways, and we will look at interpreting music in variety of ways using the technicality that best suits your voice.
I am different from other tutors because I engage in a different way that is fun, interesting, and hopefully inspirational.
These lessons are mainly for teenagers to adults.
