About Kalala

I'm currently a Physical Therapist who recently graduated from Emory University with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. At Emory, I tutored undergraduate students through our academic development center. I focused on mainly Algebra and Anatomy & Physiology. My favorite classes to tutor is Anatomy & Physiology. While I was a graduate student, I was seeing how these subjects are applied in the human body, which makes it really fun to tutor them! My tutoring style focuses on the student taking ownership of the material. To me, this means that the student is learning the material in a way that is the most optimal for them, and in a way that ensures that they can apply their knowledge meaningfully. Outside of the classroom, I love to hang out with my Labradoodle puppy, run outdoors, and go out to brunch with friends!

About the lesson

It is my passion and lifelong goal to make students independent learners. I believe education is paramount to our society and its success in any field. Students are capable and willing to take any step necessary to advance their knowledge and expertise. Its their enthusiasm that drives me to teach everyday and aid in their academic progress.
In terms of my lesson plan, first, I highlight the central them of each chapter, then work on the central idea of each paragraph, and tie it together to a unique concept. This tool has helped me, as well as my students, in undergraduate and graduate courses.
My lessons are primarily designed for high school, undergraduate and graduate students involved in mathematics and Anatomy & Physiology. While in graduate school, I tutored undergraduate students through our academic development center. I focused on mainly Algebra and Anatomy & Physiology.
I am excited to not only be a tutor to my students, but a mentor as well. I intend to form long-term relationships with each of my students and cultivate their dreams as if they were my own. I want students to take each challenge as welcoming and surmountable. Learning is a skill that can be easily changed and used to our best advantage.
