About Allison
As a seasoned graduate student with an MFA in Performing Arts and Writing from the prestigious Savannah College of Art & Design, I embody the fusion of creativity and expertise. Currently honing my craft at the renowned Groundlings Theater in West Hollywood, I immerse myself in the heart of the entertainment industry, continuously refining my skills. Beyond my dedication to personal growth, I am committed to nurturing the next generation of talent, teaching acting to students aged 10 to 18, guiding them on the intricate path of securing representation and mastering the art of performance. My passion for education extends to crafting comprehensive portfolios tailored to equip budding artists with the tools they need to thrive in the fiercely competitive landscape of showbiz. My accolades extend beyond the classroom as a TED Talk speaker, sharing insights garnered from my international credits and diverse experiences. With an exciting venture on the horizon, I am set to direct a Broadway musical this summer which will premiere at Room 54 Below.

Teaching Method and Techniques:
My teaching method revolves around a personalized approach tailored to each student's strengths, weaknesses, and aspirations. Drawing from my extensive experience in both performance and academia, I employ a combination of traditional acting techniques, modern methodologies, and innovative exercises to cultivate well-rounded performers. Utilizing a hands-on approach, I guide students through practical exercises, character analysis, improvisation, and script interpretation to enhance their skills and deepen their understanding of the craft.
Typical Lesson Plan:
A typical lesson begins with a warm-up session to engage the body, voice, and imagination, preparing students for the work ahead. We then delve into specific areas of focus, which may include scene study, monologue work, audition preparation, or character development. Through a series of exercises and guided exploration, students are encouraged to take risks, explore new techniques, and develop their unique artistic voice. Each lesson concludes with constructive feedback and actionable steps for improvement, empowering students to continue their growth outside of the classroom.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor:
What sets me apart as a tutor is my dual background in both academia and professional performance. With an MFA in Performing Arts and Writing, coupled with real-world experience in the entertainment industry, I bring a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical expertise to my teaching. My approach is rooted in fostering a supportive and nurturing environment where students feel empowered to take creative risks and discover their authentic selves as performers. Additionally, my commitment to staying current with industry trends and my passion for continuous learning ensures that my teaching remains dynamic, relevant, and effective.
Who the Lessons Are For:
My lessons are designed for aspiring actors and performers at various stages of their journey, ranging from beginners to advanced students. Whether preparing for auditions, honing their craft, or seeking guidance on navigating the industry, my instruction caters to individuals who are committed to growth and passionate about pursuing a career in acting. While the content of the lessons may vary based on the student's level of experience and specific goals, my teaching philosophy remains consistent: to provide a supportive and enriching learning environment that fosters artistic growth, self-discovery, and confidence.
