About Cathal
I'm Cathal, a first year student at UCD. I've tutored students in French and English literature back in France while doing my leaving cert (baccalaureat in France) for Junior cert and Leaving Cert French. I specialize more in literature, comprehension and oral skills however I'm very capable of teaching grammar and linguistics. I'm fluent in both English and French and transition easily between the two, offering a good role model on what it means to be truly bilingual in French and English.

My approach to tutoring is to first get to understand how the student learns and customize my approach to each client based on that. I believe that learning happens through active participation and a comfortable, open discussion between teacher and student. As a young adult, I have an easier time relating to secondary school-age students and creating an environment that's conducive to learning.

Cathal is fully bilingual in French and English, and can teach comfortably in either language. He takes the time to explain unfamiliar vocabulary and grammar while helping his students to build confidence through conversation and written exercises. We found that he listens carefully, adjusts his explanations and encourages questions. I warmly recommend Cathal to anyone looking for a thoughtful, adaptable tutor who offers personalised support with their French or English.
