About Joey

Hi, I'm Joey.
I've been playing the violin for many years and throughout my musical journey, I've discovered that music is about much more than just playing the right notes. It's about confidence, patience, creativity and expressing who you are.
I want to teach you all because I believe every student learns differently. Seeing a student go from "I can't do this" to "I did it!" is one of the most rewarding moments for me. Whether you're picking up the violin for the first time or preparing for exams and performances, I hope to create a supportive environment where learning feels inspiring, enjoyable and meaningful.
For me, learning the violin isn't just about becoming a better musician—it's about becoming a more confident person.
Qualifications:
BA Music (Hons) 1st study violin
ABRSM grade 8 violin and above.
2 years of teaching experience
During My Degree:
Multiple performance experience
A member of University of York Symphony Orchestra, University of York Chamber Orchestra, participated in the Baroque ensemble and Chimera Ensemble.

Whether you are a complete beginner or adults returning to play the violin, my approach would be focusing on the foundations, alongside students’ choices of repertoire. Lesson length would be 60 mins (including open strings warm-ups, repertoire that the student wishes to work on and relevant exercises)
