About Lissy
I have always had a passion for math and science, and I love working with students to foster an understanding and love for all of my favorite subjects. My teaching approach centers around each student's unique learning style, and I adapt my lessons based on each student's previous knowledge and their teaching preferences. Whether you are reviewing for an exam, working on a homework assignment, or even just struggling with a particularly difficult chapter, I can help!
I recently graduated from Vanderbilt University with a double major in chemistry and history, and I have been tutoring for five years. I also have an Associates degree in Applied Mathematics, and I have taken several graduate-level math and science courses.
Above all else, I aim to make learning fun - math and science aren't scary, and they can even be really fun!

I like to adapt my lesson plans based on the preference and learning style of each student. A typical lesson would involve an explanation or review of the material followed by practice problems in order to demonstrate mastery of the topic. My main goal is to teach students in a way that allows them to effectively problem solve independently, both in class and on exams - every student learns differently, and my teaching style honors that.
In order for me to plan an effective lesson, I ask that students send me a topic or copy of their syllabus before each lesson in order to make sessions as productive as possible. Any insight as to how the student learns best is also appreciated, and I will incorporate that information into my lesson plans.
