About Samuel
As a teacher, I seek to empower, encourage, and actualize students’ recognition and respect of themselves and others through education. I aim to embrace my role as a guide to help students learn to accept themselves and their peers as unique individuals with inquisitive minds, unique learning styles, and special abilities.
I believe the role of students in education is to not only find the answers to presented questions but also to embrace asking questions themselves and to find power in that inquisition and resolve in finding solutions. I believe that true education only happens with a small spark of curiosity and I want to encourage children to seek out their intrinsic curiosities and explore them with driven, positive energy.

I will use curriculum strategies that hinge on formative assessment to best allow students to learn and produce content that aligns with their interests while allowing them to express and assess themselves and their progress. I will use differentiated teaching strategies including projects, supplementary videos, individual reading, real-world content connections, and hands-on learning experiences to give students an opportunity to apply what they learn in creative, unique ways. My explicit variance of strategies and materials is foundational to the differentiation of instruction, which will allow all students with different learning styles to succeed. My course will use frequent, brief, and personalized formative assessments to complement and encourage individual interests, learning styles, and the growth of personalized skills. In conjunction with my methods, I will apply culturally responsive content to my plans to ensure all students of different cultural backgrounds feel connected to the lesson and well represented. These lessons will be curated for both middle school and high school students studying biology.
