My Tutoring Approach and Teaching Methodology I take a student-centered, adaptive approach to tutoring. My priority is to meet students where they are in their learning journey and tailor lessons to their unique goals, learning styles, and pace. I use a mix of the following techniques: Active Learning: Encouraging students to think aloud, solve problems during sessions, and reflect on what they’ve learned. Scaffolded Instruction: Breaking complex topics into manageable steps and gradually increasing difficulty as the student builds confidence. Conceptual Focus: Ensuring students understand the “why” behind the material, not just the “how.” Feedback-Driven: Giving regular, constructive feedback and adjusting the pace and focus based on student progress. Use of Visual Aids and Examples: Leveraging diagrams, real-world examples, and digital tools to reinforce learning. Typical Length of a Lesson Lessons are usually 60 minutes long, which I find balances depth with attention span effectively. However, I offer flexibility—shorter 30-minute sessions for younger learners or quick review, and 90-minute sessions for advanced topics or test prep. Qualifications and Experience I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Irish, Music and TEFL, and I’ve been tutoring for 4 years across subjects such as Irish, Music, English. My experience includes: Working with students from primary school to college level Helping students prepare for standardized tests (e.g., Junior and Leaving Cert, ABRSM and RIAM exams for Music) Supporting students with learning differences like ADHD or dyslexia. I continually stay updated with best practices in education and integrate technology to enhance learning. Who the Lessons Are For I work with: Ages 8 and up, including primary, secondary, and college students. Learners at all levels, from those needing foundational support to advanced students seeking enrichment. Test-takers, students needing homework support, or adults returning to education. Whether a student is struggling or aiming to excel further, my approach is tailored to help them meet their goals.
