About Tim
About me: I graduated in Jazz Piano and Composition with high distinctions in most subjects many years ago in Australia. I then taught piano, theory, ensemble and history of jazz for a few semesters at tertiary level.
I also lived in Hong Kong for several years and was the resident pianist in the house band at HK Jazz Club. I had my own music school for a while there and taught students at the South Island School. I also wrote and produced music for contemporary dance, corporate videos and live shows.
Wherever I've lived, I've played, composed and taught over the years, including: Australia, Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong, Korea, China, USA (Seattle, Georgia, Florida), and Vietnam, which is where I am now. Here, I've been teaching at piano shops, privately, and now, online.
I have an excellent two camera setup, hifi sound and screen sharing so it's easy to see and hear from my end.

Having taught a lot of students privately and at university in performance and theory over the years, and having played a lot of music around the world in jazz clubs, hotels, cruiseships, five star hotels, and on recording dates, I feel very well positioned to help you move forward with music at whatever level you are at now.
My methodology: read where the student is at now, understand their goals, and help guide them there through developing their playing, supported by understanding theory, and working on skills such as ear training, reading, writing, listening, transcribing, improvisation, and using keyboards and tech.
