About Peter
I studied mathematics at University of Manchester, during which time I interned on IBM's Extreme Blue program. I spent 2 years as a patent examiner in Cardiff, working on Control Systems and Mobile Telecommunications. I currently volunteer at a local primary school covering maths, computing and chess.
I am currently new to this platform, but I have a lot of experience teaching. I have taught school teachers, undergraduates and primary school children. After finishing secondary school, I had an opportunity to travel to Kathmandu in Nepal, where I spent a week in a local school. I frequently collaborate with friends and former colleagues in the visual effects (CGI for movies) and computing industries.

I have experience tutoring individuals and small groups in mathematics, as well as the mathematical content of related sciences (physics, chemistry and biology). I also have experience teaching people of all ages, up to an A-level standard. I can cover some undergraduate content, some modules better than others. My experience of teaching ICT is quite extensive, but Computer Science is more recent, but I am also learning all the time. I have experience with MATLAB and LaTeX, as well as programming languages C, Python, Web Development (HTML, CSS, Javascript).
I believe in developing understanding as a foundation, before improving fluency and abstract problem solving through answering problems and undertaking projects. I can structure learning objectives according to individual targets. I like to combine my academic interests with my other hobbies such as photography, electronics, computer science and sport.
