About Colleen
Hi there! My name is is Colleen, and I help students with academic English. I graduated from Montana State University in 2021 with a degree in English-Writing. I dove deep into rhetoric and composition, academic writing, creative writing, English literature, and critical theory. English is what I'm best at and most passionate about, and I love sharing that with other people.
I'm here to help you with your English and/or writing proficiency. My lessons are tailored to you, your skill level, strengths, learning methods, interests, and your amount of excitement about the subject of English. I want all of my students to feel comfortable and confident during and outside of our lessons together, which is why I exclusively use positive reinforcement and constructive criticism in my lessons.

I approach my tutoring sessions with the knowledge that each student carries different strengths, abilities, interests, and personal backgrounds. I believe it is essential to build a healthy, professional relationship with each student in order for them to get the most out of my lessons.
I begin my lessons by listening to my students. That means asking questions about their assignment and learning what the purpose of the assignment is from their perspective. I then focus on the parts that the student is struggling with, and provide them with related prompts and/or questions that spark critical thinking.
My goal is to help every student understand not only how to complete their assignments, but to also understand why the assignment matters and what it is helping them to understand.
I provide Academic-English lessons for students from middle school through college.
