About Éabha

Irish and music are my two biggest passions in life. Irish: Irish being my first language, I grew up speaking it in the Gaeltacht in Connemara which is also a very musical area. I currently teach Irish language classes to first year students enrolled in University College Cork. I have achieved excellence in my Irish exams over the years. I speak Irish to my family and friends and hope to have the opportunity to teach you to be able to do the same! Music: I grew to love writing and recording songs in Irish and this passion led me to study music and Irish in College in Cork city. I play concertina and guitar and I sing. I am an award-winning musician and have earned prestigious scholarships such as “Quercus” and “Consairtín” during my time in University. Tá mé ag súil go mór ceachtanna a dhéanamh leat agus is cleachtadh a dhéanann máistreacht! I am looking forward to being your tutor and it’s practice that makes perfect!

About the lesson

Hi there! My name is Éabha. -My lessons are 1hr slots online/in person. For leaving cert/junior cycle/third level: -My Lesson plans will cater to the specific syllabus that the student is studying in school for their exams. -Irish lessons will include grammar work, oral and aural mini exams which will include vocabulary lists to build up their speaking and listening confidence. It will also help them to recognize the different dialects of the Gaeltacht areas. -We will work on reading and creative writing along with studying texts which will help prepare them for those parts of the examinations. Interested in learning Irish from scratch? -Irish beginner lessons: I teach complete beginners, 1hr lessons online/in person. -All ages/levels -Working on grammar and speaking confidence. Interested in learning to sing/play guitar/concertina? -1hr or 30 minute Music lessons: I teach beginner guitar and concertina and singing. Online/in person. My goals as a tutor: -To give you the best possible chance at passing your exams and achieving high marks. -To teach my native language and make a positive impact on learners of the language. -To share my passion for music and encourage singers and musicians to experience the possibilities and opportunities that come with being a musician.
