About Ben

I am an open and attentive individual. I love working to solve problems and finding ways to rework things to better fit each singer’s abilities. I am flexible and willing to meet students where they’re at, instead of forcing them to meet me at a certain level. We will work together to achieve your goals!

About the lesson

As a private voice instructor, it is my responsibility to foster personal creativity and enjoyment of a singer’s own voice. I aim to provide singers with musical challenges to test their abilities, a musical education to improve their skills as musicians, and performance opportunities for those interested in pursuing a career in voice.

In my teaching experience, I've observed many students striving for perfection with each song. However, it is important to remember that singing is a process-driven art. Making strange sounds, messing up, and experiencing failure are essential steps in evolving as a singer. I strongly discourage my students from pursuing perfection, as the work of singers is never complete. We must all strive to be the best we can be, and this can be achieved in my studio.

I encourage students to explore their voices in various ways, welcoming diverse musical styles and genres while prioritizing healthy vocal production. Focus begins with fundamental singing techniques such as breathing, resonance, articulation, and expressivity. By paying attention to these fundamentals, healthy vocal production and creativity can flourish.

I strive to create an environment where students enjoy singing and anticipate their lessons, where each feels safe stepping outside their comfort zone. I'm committed to enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in my studio. Celebrating multiple approaches and points of view, I welcome them with open arms and listen attentively. I aim to continue living with kindness and understanding, an approach that all humans deserve.

They are so kind, non-judgmental, and knowledgeable, and I leave each lesson a better singer than when I first walked in. After working with Ben, songs and concepts that once felt difficult feel much more attainable and way less scary. I cannot recommend Ben enough!
