About Varshini
I am a graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree having triple majored in Economics, Political Science and Sociology. Having had continued enthusiasm for and interest in math, I have tutored students in their secondary and high school years in the same. In my undergraduate year, I have also completed mathematics for economics and statistical methods as core papers. In addition to an in-depth understanding of high school math, I have the experience of applying the mathematical concepts in my economics dissertation in my final year and during my internship with PricewaterhouseCoopers under their Government Reforms and Infrastructure Development (GRID) department.

I would adopt a hybrid approach to teaching wherein I act as both a facilitator as well as a demonstrator. This hybrid approach will be modified according to the needs of the students. As a facilitator, my class would be structured in a manner where I would provide some materials for self study or exploration and would review the student based on that in subsequent classes. Thus, while building their knowledge, I would evoke questions and guide the students to find the answers through analytical thinking. As a demonstrator, I will be catering to those who need greater aid and therefore I will introduce the topic through presentations or games. As the student gets familiar with the topic, I will move to more advanced subject areas. Essentially, each of my class will follow a formative process that begins with a review of the previous class’ discussions followed by a short introduction to the new topic and explanation of the same and concluded by a questions session to clarify any doubts. There will be small weekly formative assessments to test their knowledge. Based on the student’s performance, reviews shall be provided with areas to focus on. My classes are useful for middle school and high school students who require help in any topic in math and for those who seek help in mathematical economics at undergraduate level.
