You develop an understanding for languages whne you speak it. So communication in English gore without saying. Grammar and spellings are an important aspect of the language. So for academic English, these would be extremely essential along with prose and poetry. I would combine these two in the classes and make sure each chapter is understood in a way that helps with grammar and overall understanding.
