To teach someone to read and write English effectively, I use a balanced, scaffolded approach that bridges the gap between sounding out words and understanding real-world meaning. My philosophy is that literacy shouldn’t feel like a chore; it should feel practical.I never start with a blank page. Before we touch a pen, we talk. I use Total Physical Response (TPR)—gestures and movement—to connect English sounds to actions. It’s much easier to read the word "apple" if you already know what it tastes like and how to say it.
