About Daysha
I began tutoring during my sophomore year of college and have continued developing my teaching experience ever since. I also served as a student instructor for a first-time introductory chemistry course designed for nursing students, where I supported students in mastering foundational general chemistry concepts. I was the first student at High Point University to tutor this course, which helped me strengthen my communication skills and my ability to adapt complex material to different learning styles.
In addition to chemistry, I have extensive experience tutoring a wide range of science and math courses, including genetics, cell biology, microbiology, botany, ecology, general chemistry I and II, and Calculus I. Through this experience, I’ve worked with students at various academic levels, from those building foundational understanding to those aiming to excel in more advanced coursework.
My approach is structured, supportive, and focused on helping students truly understand material rather than memorize it. I emphasize breaking down difficult concepts, reinforcing key ideas, and building effective study strategies that lead to long-term academic success.
I am currently in the process of applying to dental school, with the long-term goal of specializing in orthodontics. My academic background in biology, chemistry, and mathematics, combined with my teaching experience, allows me to bring both strong subject knowledge and a real-world pre-health perspective into my tutoring.
Outside of academics, I enjoy modeling and spending time outdoors on nature walks, which helps me stay balanced and grounded.
I am committed to helping students not only improve their grades, but also gain confidence in their ability to understand and apply scientific and mathematical concepts.

My tutoring approach focuses on clarity, confidence, and true understanding rather than memorization. I help students break down complex biological concepts into simple, logical steps and connect them to real-world applications so the material actually makes sense. I also make sessions engaging and fun so students feel comfortable, stay motivated, and enjoy learning science instead of dreading it.
My teaching method combines concept mapping, active recall, and guided practice to strengthen both understanding and exam performance. I simplify difficult topics step-by-step, adapt explanations to each student’s learning style, and emphasize how to think through questions rather than just memorize answers. I also teach test-taking strategies, including how to approach multiple-choice questions and eliminate incorrect options efficiently.
A typical lesson starts with a brief review of previous material or identification of problem areas. We then move into a structured explanation of the topic, followed by guided practice where we work through examples together. Students then apply what they’ve learned independently with support as needed, and we end with a summary of key takeaways and study strategies for retention.
What sets me apart is my ability to make challenging biology concepts approachable, structured, and enjoyable. I am patient, detail-oriented, and focused on identifying where confusion begins so it can be fully resolved. As a recent B.S. Biology graduate with a concentration in Health Sciences, I bring strong academic preparation and up-to-date knowledge of college-level biology coursework. I work with college students, pre-health students, and advanced high school students in biology-related courses.
