I had never sewn before meeting him, and he has taught me not only solid foundational skills but also good sewing hygiene, like pressing between steps, maintaining a clean, organized workspace, and folding my patterns and fabric well. He's also really fun to chat with about fashion, sewing technique, fabric, etc. highly recommend Elliot if you're just beginning your sewing or need advanced skill.

When did you start practicing? How did this passion find you?
I started exploring fashion design in my teens, drawn to the way clothing could tell stories and shape identity. Over time, this curiosity grew into a career built on both creative vision and technical skill.
Which artists or works affect you the most?
I’m inspired by designers who blend craftsmanship with innovation—names like Alexander McQueen, Yohji Yamamoto, and Issey Miyake. Their work reminds me that fashion can be both art and cultural commentary.
What are the qualities and skills required to succeed in this area?
Patience, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt are essential. A strong foundation in technical skills, paired with the courage to experiment, sets designers apart.
What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?
Stay connected to why you started. Break big projects into small, achievable steps, and allow yourself to iterate—progress often comes from refining, not rushing.
How would you describe your passion; how does it make you feel?
Fashion design is both my language and my canvas. It challenges me daily, but it also gives me the joy of seeing ideas transform into something tangible and meaningful.
What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?
Co-founding Rockaway Design Consulting and guiding students toward top art and design institutions around the world. Seeing their growth and success is as rewarding as my own design milestones.
Have you ever been surprised by a student; by their ability or quick progression?
Absolutely. Many students exceed their own expectations once they realize their potential. Watching that transformation is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching.
