About Suchang

I am Suchang Kwon, and I was born and raised in Korea. Korean is my mother tongue and I am really excited to share my language with others who are keen to learn it! In Korea, I taught children of all ages many things including Korean. I really enjoyed helping them, and I would love to help you!

About the lesson

I teach my classes based on level and the students desire. I will outline the basic classes for each level, however they can all be adjusted to best match the students wants.

• BEGINNER
In the beginner classes I will teach the alphabet, that will include how to read and write. I will also teach daily phrases in Korea and what we use in our casual conversations. Most of the beginner class will be taught using formal language (of course if the student wants to learn casual first, it is possible). I will also start to teach basic conjugations in this class. We will also move on to learning how to make basic sentences.

• INTERMEDIATE:
In intermediate class we will start to focus more on grammar. We will continue learning how to make sentences, but we will make them more advanced and flow more naturally. Here, when the student is ready, I will start to teach casual language, and the difference between formal and informal language. We will continue to learn conjugations, but they will be irregular and more difficult. After this class it should be easy to communicate with other Koreans!

• ADVANCED:
The advanced Korean classes are for those who really know the language but want to expand their knowledge further. Here, we will learn proverbs and the meanings, as well as a more cultural side of Korean language. This being learning about the history, or modern day culture. We can even intertwine some Kdrama or Kpop into these classes, and analyse scenes, where we watch them together and discuss what has happened in this scene. It doesn’t just have to be Kdrama, if you prefer, we can look at articles together, we will read them together, discuss words meanings as well as discuss the overall message of each paragraph and the script.

With my lessons you will not only be able to communicate with Koreans, but you will be able to surprise them with your extended knowledge of the Korean culture!
