About Maria
Language is a very powerful tool for connecting with each other and understanding how people think. That's why Portuguese has always been one of my favorite subjects in school. I loved discovering that Portuguese is spoken in specific places around the world (Europe, South America, Asia, and Africa)! There are significant differences in vocabulary and accent in the Portuguese spoken in each country, including in the various regions of Brazil. Brazil is a developing country with great economic potential, immense natural wealth, and a very diverse population, which adds beauty to our language, as it contains a little bit of every corner of the world. For many years, I worked in public administration in São Paulo. Now that I have closed this important chapter of my professional history, I can dedicate myself more to communication, teaching Portuguese and also studying other languages (English, Spanish, Italian). The classes are for you. Therefore, before we begin, I will need to understand your goals, your interests, your level of Portuguese, and your pace. We will create a plan with defined subjects and topics. In class, exercises will be done to develop listening, speaking, comprehension, reading, and writing skills. Spoken language (conversation), written texts, and excerpts from audiovisual materials will be the language vehicles used in the classes. There will be some tasks for you to maintain contact with the language during the days when there are no classes.
