About the lesson

I am a GTCS (General Teaching Council for Scotland) registered Primary Teacher. I am currently in my second year of teaching in a British School in Brazil. I have previously taught in Scotland and and have 2 years International teaching experience in Doha, Qatar. I have taught both the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence and UK curriculum. My current position in Brazil as English Coordinator, involves planning, implementing and evaluating the English National Curriculum from Pre- Nursery to Year 6. I am responsible for the EAL programme and staff within the school and observe, assess and evaluate it to ensure that it meet the needs of our learners. I immensely enjoy the challenge of this with the added factor of the majority of the children within the school being EAL students. My previous position in Doha, Qatar had a high proportion of EAL students and I relished the opportunity to develop strategies to support this.

I am a committed and enthusiastic teacher. I believe in the importance of a fully holistic approach to teaching and learning which supports the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of all children. It is important to provide an inclusive learning experience in which all children can experience personal success. I have a practical, active approach to learning which encourages children to be active participants and accommodates the range of learning styles within my class.
