About Shreyans

I’m a singer, improviser, and teacher with an MMus from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and over 20 years of professional performing experience. Along the way, I’ve sung for two Presidents of India, performed in ensembles and improvisation projects, and was part of TIC – The Improvisers Choir, which won Nonclassical's Battle of the Bands in 2018 for a live improvised performance; we later recorded a two-volume album of entirely improvised music.

I first taught myself to sing by listening to others on my Walkman and reproducing what I heard, shamelessly experimenting and discovering my voice on my own terms. That spirit of curiosity, experimentation, and play is at the heart of how I teach today. I believe that everyone has a voice worth hearing, and that music is not just a skill, but a form of self-expression, joy, and healing. Singing isn’t about hitting the “right” notes or being technically perfect — it’s about connecting with yourself, the song, and the people listening, and learning to trust the voice you already have.

My approach is deeply person-centred: I aim to create a warm, supportive space where students of all levels feel safe to explore their voices without fear, pressure, or judgement. Using improvisation, movement, songs you love, and playful exercises, I help students discover what makes their voice unique and how to express it naturally. Laughter, curiosity, and small breakthroughs are central to the process, and technique often follows effortlessly when students are honest with themselves and their feelings.

Over the years, I’ve seen how transformative this work can be. Singing can build confidence, help release tension, spark creativity, and deepen self-understanding — and it’s my privilege to guide students through that journey. My teaching draws not only on my formal training and professional experience but also on my personal journey of self-taught discovery, the lessons I’ve learned in improvisation and ensemble work, and my belief that music belongs to everyone, not just the “naturally talented.”

Whether you’re completely new to singing, returning to it after a long break, or curious about exploring your own creative voice, I provide a gentle, playful environment where you can experiment, make mistakes, and enjoy the process. Together, we focus on uncovering your natural voice, fostering expression, and celebrating the joy of music — all in a space where your voice, your feelings, and your creativity are always valued.

About the lesson

Approach & methodology: Playful, gentle, and person-centred lessons using improvisation, movement, songs you love, and simple exercises that build confidence naturally.

Lesson length: 60 minutes per session.

Level / who it’s for: Complete beginners, adults returning to singing, or anyone curious about exploring their voice.

Qualifications & experience: MMus from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, 20+ years of professional performing experience, including international performances and award-winning improvisation projects.
