About Isla

My passion for guitar began at an early age, drawn by the instrument’s ability to convey emotion and tell stories. I earned a B.Mus in Contemporary Guitar Performance and Music Composition, which provided rigorous training in both performance and pedagogical methods. Over 11 years, I have guided students of diverse ages and skill levels, helping them develop technical proficiency, artistic interpretation, and confidence in performance.

I teach with patience, empathy, and attention to individual learning styles, ensuring that each student receives instruction that suits their pace, goals, and musical preferences. Lessons combine technique development, repertoire exploration, improvisation, and performance practice, helping learners balance skill acquisition with expressive creativity. I emphasize fostering independence, self-confidence, and a personal connection to music, enabling each student to explore and shape their musical identity.

Outside teaching, I continue performing, composing, and exploring contemporary guitar techniques to bring fresh perspectives into lessons. Guitar instruction is deeply fulfilling because I witness students transform from tentative beginners into confident musicians, developing technical mastery, expressive capability, and an enduring love for music.

About the lesson

Guitar lessons become truly rewarding when learners are encouraged to combine technical mastery with musical creativity. My teaching approach emphasizes finger technique, chord progressions, scales, improvisation, phrasing, tone shaping, and expressive interpretation. Lessons integrate exercises, repertoire study, improvisational challenges, and performance practice, creating a rich and immersive learning environment. I provide a supportive space where learners feel confident experimenting with musical ideas, understanding the mechanics of the instrument, and gradually building technical and expressive skill simultaneously.

Lesson plans are customized according to the student’s level and musical goals. Beginners focus on basic chords, strumming patterns, finger placement, and simple melodies. Intermediate learners expand into scales, fingerstyle techniques, barre chords, improvisation, and stylistic exploration. Advanced learners refine complex repertoire, improvisational fluency, musical phrasing, performance preparation, and composition. Each session blends structured exercises, guided feedback, and reflective practice, ensuring steady growth and a strong foundation in both technical skill and musical artistry.

Guitar lessons also nurture patience, focus, creativity, and self-confidence. Students learn to express their musical voice, perform confidently, and enjoy the art of guitar playing.
