About Maddison
My journey with guitar began through a love of music and creative expression. I pursued a B.Mus in Guitar Performance and Contemporary Music, where I developed both technical expertise and a deep appreciation for musical storytelling. Over 9 years of teaching, I have helped learners grow from beginners into confident, expressive musicians. I believe guitar teaching should be encouraging, structured, and adaptable. Many learners struggle with coordination or rhythm at first, so I focus on clear explanations, gradual progression, and positive reinforcement. I adjust lessons to match each student’s pace, ensuring learning remains enjoyable and rewarding. Outside teaching, I remain active in music through performance, composition, and exploring new styles. Teaching guitar is fulfilling because I see students gain confidence, creativity, and independence. Supporting their musical growth and helping them connect emotionally with music is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

Guitar lessons become most effective when learners build strong technical foundations while enjoying creative expression. My lessons focus on finger positioning, chord transitions, strumming patterns, scales, rhythm, and musical interpretation. I encourage students to explore music actively, helping them understand how technique supports expression and confidence. Lessons are structured to feel motivating and achievable, ensuring steady progress without unnecessary pressure.
Lesson plans are tailored to individual experience levels. Beginners focus on posture, basic chords, rhythm control, and simple melodies. Intermediate learners develop fingerstyle technique, barre chords, scale fluency, and expressive dynamics. Advanced learners explore complex repertoire, improvisation, stylistic interpretation, and performance skills. Each lesson includes demonstrations, guided practice, and feedback to reinforce growth.
Guitar lessons also foster patience, creativity, and self-confidence. Students learn to enjoy the learning process, trust their musical instincts, and perform with greater assurance. My goal is to help learners build technical skill while developing a personal musical voice that allows them to express ideas confidently through guitar playing.
