About Patrick
I am very passionate and enthusiastic about music and it has been the only work in my life that doesn't feel like work. Because I started late (19), I had to focus on the most productive ways to practice and I impart that onto my students. Additionally,my command of music theory is my strongest area, and by inclidong that in my lessons, my students quickly are able to comprehend music in a way that will allow them to see their own strengths and weaknesses' with clarity. This allows the student to understand where they are and how to be the kind of musician they want to be independently.

I think what sets me apart as a teacher is that I make it fun by focusing on music that the student is interested in and right from the start I incorporate improvisation unto the lessons.
A typical lesson:
1) Look at the assignment from the last lesson which usually will be from one of the prominent texts which will build notation interpreting skills.
2) Using the tune often, I will point out elements (chord progressions, melody, or the basic rhythmic quality) and find a piece of music from the students favorites that utilizes the same elements.
3) Using tracks from the actual song, or playing the rhythm guitar parts myself, I will show the scale (at first simplified) to the pupil and then encourage them to improvise over the chords and beat to get a sense of the basic roots upon which the music is created.
4) Encourage as soon as feasible the student to compose their own music pieces.
