I have been a specialist tutor for 5 years and have tutored a variety of students with educational needs such as dyslexia and dyspraxia

I am the Head of School of Social Sciences at the University of Wolverhampton. It has been my great pleasure to teach and work with Evonne Richards over the last 10 years. Evonne graduated from the University with a first class honours degree in Sociology and subsequently achieved an MA in Education. Evonne worked as a visiting lecturer and as a research assistant in Sociology for a number of years before undertaking specialised work in academic and personal tutoring across a range of disciplines within the University.
Evonne has an excellent knowledge of Sociology and is highly qualified to teach the subject up to, and including, degree level. Evonne operates with an inclusive pedagogic practice. She is an exceptionally gifted teacher and mentor with an outstanding ability to enable learners to overcome barriers to learning and to achieve their best. She has a proven record of success in enabling positive outcomes for learners under her tutelage. Evonne is a hugely effective mentor, working closely with learners and tailoring subject matter to meet their individual needs. Evonne is a highly personable, enthusiastic and committed tutor who is passionate about the value of education. She has fantastic motivational skills and inspires learners to achieve their best. I cannot recommend Evonne highly enough.

Evonne Richards is truly an outstanding candidate. As a senior lecturer of over twenty years at the university , I feel confident in saying that it is not often we come across such an able, astute and confident student. Evonne has proven to be an excellent undergraduate student, she was able to take her academic writing to a level beyond our expectations. During her period at the university she has achieved first class passes in most of her second level modules and all of her 3rd level modules, and was finally awarded a first class degree in sociology. I was fortunate to have been her supervisor for her undergraduate dissertation and again she was able to produce a remarkable piece of work , of high academic standing, applying critical observation and analysis which merited a first class pass. She followed this with her teaching qualification and teaching at colleges and mentoring students. I therefore believe that work in an educational institution is her forte. Finally, on a personal level, Evonne will also bring personal and academic experiences that will place her very well with this research. She herself is a returnee/mature student who had travelled through the Access to H.E route, and is very familiar of the personal and educational struggles/experiences of widening participation. She will bring to the project a first hand experience of perseverance that has empowered her and hopefully this will transpire to this post.

With all this in mind I can only but say I wish her the best of luck in this application, and I do sincerely believe that your institution and indeed she, will gain immensely from this opportunity.
